This inflammation of the udder is mainly caused by bacterial infections. Among the primary bacterial agents is Streptococcus agalactiae, a highly contagious microorganism that often leads to subclinical infections those that are not easily detected by dairy producers. As a result, S. agalactiae can spread quickly throughout a herd, leading to significant immediate losses due to reduced milk production.

S. agalactiae is a Gram-positive bacterium classified within Group B streptococci. Traditional methods for identifying this bacterium involve culturing techniques that detect beta-hemolysis, presence of Group B Lancefield antigen, and the ability to hydrolyze sodium hippurate.

The Streptococcus agalactiae TaqMan PCR Lyophilized Kit is developed for the detection of S. agalactiae-specific DNA through real-time PCR utilizing TaqMan probe technology. This assay is intended for research use only and is not suitable for clinical diagnostic purposes. The kit offers a reliable, efficient, and rapid method for identifying S. agalactiae DNA, aiding in studies related to mastitis infections in dairy cattle.

This lyophilized PCR kit includes:

• A dual-function Master Mix for both target and internal control detection
• A Primer and Probe Mix designed specifically for S. agalactiae
• A lyophilized positive control for verification of detection
• A negative control (nuclease-free water) to confirm reagent integrity

To ensure quality control, the kit also includes an internal PCR control to detect any PCR inhibition and to validate sample integrity.

All critical components, including the 2X PCR Master Mix, Primer & Probe Mix, and Positive Control, are provided in a stable, lyophilized form. The kit should be stored at -20°C immediately upon receipt to preserve shelf life. After reconstitution, components should be kept at -20°C and used before the stated expiry date.
